Codes and standards US, International Standards Organization (ISO)

Transportation and storage containers for compressed gases and hazardous materials, are regulated by many governments throughout the world. Regulatory Codes, Specifications and Standards at various levels of the design, manufacturing processes, testing and use must comply with applicable Government Codes. For example in the United States, this authority is the United States Department of Transport Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (DOT PHMSA). Similarly, in the UK, the European transport regulations (ADR) are implemented by the Department for Transport (DfT). In India the Office of the Chief Controller of Explosives, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India is the Authority for developing Codes and enforcement. International Standards Organization (ISO) Specifications for compressed gas transportation cylinders are accepted and adopted in many countries which enables products made to ISO Specifications in a signatory country can be sold and used in other such countries. Each manufacturer of high-pressure cylinders is required to have an independent quality and regulatory compliance agent who will inspect the manufacturing process and product quality and safety. Other Codes used worldwide for pressure vessel and piping include the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the American Society for Testing and Materials.

We are active members in The ISO Technical Committees, and ASME following the latest developmentsin the compressed gas cylinder Codes and Regulations.
